My Star Chart and Social Media Are Not Best Friends

I’ve been trying to figure out social media.
Not how to use it. I know how to make a post.
I’ve been trying to figure out how to be on it.
...There is a difference.
Since I started putting more energy into my coaching practice, I’ve been told all the things you’re supposed to do to market yourself. Post consistently. Make videos. Teach something. Share quotes. Build your audience. Create content. Be visible.
And I keep thinking…
Do I have to?
It’s not that I don’t believe in what I do. I do.
And it’s not that I’m completely afraid of being seen. I am, a little.
Sometimes I can feel myself gathering up the courage to hit the post button. I worry about doing it wrong because I haven’t done much of this yet, and I don’t know what I don’t know.
What’s different now is that I’m willing to try. I’m willing to do it anyway.
Recently, I started wondering whether there might be something about me that makes this whole social media thing feel so unnatural.
So naturally, I looked at my astrological chart. 🤓
And, well…

According to the planets and stars, me and social media are not exactly natural best friends.
I’m a Scorpio Sun AND Scorpio Rising.
Scorpio tends to be private, selective and observant. We don’t necessarily want everyone having access to us. We tend to watch from the shadows and then decide what we think, before choosing to reveal ourselves.
Social media, on the other hand, basically says:
“Here I am! Look at me! Here’s what I’m doing! Here’s what I’m thinking! Here’s my life!”
And Scorpio says:
“Wait! What? Why exactly do you need to know?” 😂
Then there’s my Aquarius Moon.
Aquarius likes independence. It doesn’t particularly enjoy doing something simply because everyone else is doing it. It wants the freedom to participate—or not participate—in its own way.
So far, this is not looking particularly promising for the social media aspect of my business.
But then there’s the rest of my chart.
I have Mercury, Venus AND Mars in Sagittarius. Yes, an amplified Stellium!
And Sagittarius says:
“OH MY GOD! I HAVE SOMETHING I WANT TO SAY.” 😂
And there it is…
Because I actually do want to communicate.
I enjoy great conversations about the things that matter in life. Relationships, spirituality, purpose, consciousness, life’s magic, and what we’re all experiencing. I love having meaningful conversations.
What I don’t love is feeling as though I have to manufacture something to say because Tuesday is “content day” and I need to market myself and my business.
Maybe my problem isn’t visibility.
Maybe it’s performative visibility.
A few days ago, I made twenty little bottles of face oil for the women in my women’s circle. My “Magical Face Oil”. I had so much fun making it and I wanted to share it. So I did!

That felt completely different.
I wasn’t trying to create content.
I was living my life, and something in my life became the content.
That distinction feels important to me.
And right now, the timing of all of this is especially interesting because Venus is turning retrograde in Scorpio.
Astrologically, Venus retrograde is associated with looking again at what we value, what we’re attracted to, how we relate to others and what genuinely feels worthwhile to us.
In Scorpio, themes of privacy, vulnerability, trust and who gets access to us can come into the picture too.
Which feels pretty appropriate for the question I’ve been asking:
How much of myself do I want to put out there?
But I think I may have been asking the wrong question.
Maybe the question isn’t:
How do I GET comfortable putting myself out there?
Maybe it’s:
How do I share myself in a way that still feels like me?
I don’t know the complete answer yet. I’m right in the middle of it.
And maybe that’s exactly why I’m writing about it.
Because I have a feeling I’m not the only healer, coach, intuitive or practitioner who has felt called
to do meaningful work in the world—and then discovered that apparently part of fulfilling
your SACRED PURPOSE involves figuring out what the hell to post on Instagram. 😂 Ugh!
There’s something else I’m beginning to see in all of this.
Discovering your purpose isn’t the end.
It’s just the beginning.
The next step is to live it.
And if your purpose involves helping other people, eventually you have to let those people find you.
Maybe that doesn’t require the most trendy marketing plan.

Maybe it’s just about being more willing to
be seen.
Not all of me.
Not everything.
Just what feels right and real now.
I’m still figuring out what that looks like. I’m listening to my inner guidance and following what feels interesting and joyful. It’s not perfect.
I know that the people who are meant to find me will.
